Count Down

Five days till vacation. Time has momentum. The weeks roll by like a roller coaster. Slow at times, with the drone of the tick-tick-tick as the institutional Machine pulls you steadily, against all probability, through each lesson and day. And then faster, as a blur, rushing towards vacations/finals/report cards with such force that your stomach turns and you feel the skin of your cheeks flapping in the wind. There is always that possibility, at the back of your mind, that you may just fly right out of the vehicle.

We are heading downhill. Lord help us.
