No Snow Day

They called it at 6 am. The forecast was for 4 - 8 inches starting mid day, making for a messy dismissal. So they called school off before the first flake hit the ground. A good 9 hours before. The first flake fell just before three, when the kids would have been well on their way. I know I'll be cursing this day in June, but for the moment it seems like there is a God and she listens to my prayers.

Kids in daycare, Diane Rehm on the radio, a blissful day without distractions in my classroom. Scoring assessments, writing assessments, planning lessons, sorting markers and papers. And NO STUDENTS. We should get one of these once a week. I guess I do. It's called Sunday. Sunday is not nearly as depressing when it falls in the middle of the week.
